Import subform data into Zoho CRM from a spreadsheet

Some records hold a table of rows of their own, such as the line items of a deal. In a spreadsheet that table is a second sheet or file, with the deal's name on every row. Sloose now imports it as the rows inside each deal, in the same import as the deals.

How to import subform data in Zoho CRM

Some records hold a table of their own, such as a Line Items subform on a deal. The rows are not records of their own: they live inside the deal.

Add both files to one import: the deals (the deals), and their line items (the line items). Sloose sees that the second file's rows name the same deals again and again, and offers to make it the rows of the Line Items subform. You can take that, choose how, or turn it down. Each deal then holds the rows your file has for it: the warehouse roof array gets its panels, its inverters and its rail sets.

Map fields in Sloose with two files: a card reads "This looks like the Line Items of Deals" and counts the rows that name a deal, with Choose how and Not this.
A second file whose rows name a deal: Sloose offers to make them the deal’s Line Items. Shown with Zoho CRM.

Checked first, like the rest of an import

Subform rows go through the same Validate and dry run as everything else: Sloose tells you what is off before it writes, such as a deal with more rows than its layout holds or a required column left blank, and a dry run shows what each row would do. Nothing reaches your CRM until you press Import.

A column of comments can go in as a note on each record in the same import. The example files are on the examples page with the others: made-up companies, so there is nothing to protect. How this differs from Zoho CRM's own import is on the comparison page.

Questions people ask

How do I import subform data in Zoho CRM?

Add the deals and their line items to one Sloose import. Sloose sees that the second file's rows name the same deals again and again and offers to make it the rows of the Line Items subform; Validate and a dry run then show what each row would do before anything is written.

Can I import subform data for Quotes or Invoices?

Sloose's subform rows are for a subform you have added to a module, such as Line Items on Deals. They are not for Zoho's own product line items on quotes and invoices.

Do the rows replace what a deal already holds?

Each deal ends up holding exactly the rows your file has for it. The docs say what is left alone and why: rows inside a record.
